Portrait of Yan

I thought the questions were very thought provoking and an opportunity to reflect on the past. Bringing up memories of childhood, for me, is bittersweet. Growing up as an immigrant in the deep south in the 1980’s was deeply uncomfortable, to say it simply. What struck me like a thunderbolt is that my parents sacrificed so much to bring me and my sister to this country for a better life, and here I sit in Princeton with my comfortable life and my lovely children and my kind husband. I am blessed. Thank you, mom and dad.
